The 9ᵗʰ International Conference on Multicomponent Reactions and Related Chemistry will take place in Guangzhou, a vibrant and historic city with a privileged geographic location in southern China’s Pearl River Delta, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau, and well connected to their international airports by high-speed train and intercity transport links.
Guangzhou, historically known as Canton, is one of China’s oldest cities and a major gateway to the world, with over 2,200 years of uninterrupted urban history. It played a vital role in the Maritime Silk Road and today is a dynamic center of science, commerce, and culture. Among its UNESCO-recognized treasures are the Kaiping Diaolou and Villages, as well as the city’s role in the historic Silk Road corridor.
In addition to these sites, Guangzhou is home to numerous cultural and architectural landmarks, such as the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, and the striking Canton Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world. The city is also celebrated for its Lingnan garden architecture, traditional opera, and world-renowned Cantonese cuisine.
The venue of the conference will be Sun Yat-sen University, a prestigious institution founded in 1924 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of modern China. Located on the banks of the Pearl River, the university's main campus blends tranquil natural scenery with historic architecture, offering a unique academic atmosphere. It stands today as a symbol of modern education rooted in deep cultural heritage.
